TYNDALL'S EXPERIMENT

In 1870, before members of the British Royal Society, John Tyndall demonstrated a light beam being guided in an arcing stream of water. Recreate that demonstration using this activity. Includes beaker, valve and instructions. Experiment can use a lab laser or laser pointer as a light source.

SECURITY SYSTEM

This activity gives the students an opportunity to set up a door chime, a grid security system and a perimeter security system. Requires a modulated laser (not included - see Lab Lasers) and receiver/amp (not included - see SCL PHOTO/REC below). Includes security system unit with adapter, (2) patch cords, (3) adjustable front surface mirrors and instructions.

BAR CODE SCANNER

Many years ago, supermarket cashiers were tallying up shopper's grocery bills relying on speedy, accurate fingers punching the right buttons. Today, all that has changed thanks to lasers. Learn and demonstrate how bar code scanners work using this activity. Includes rotating beam scanner with adapter, (4) bar codes with holder, bar code receiver with adapter and instructions. This activity requires a laser light source (not included), but will work with a lab laser or laser pointer as a light source.

LEVELING ACTIVITY

Learn how laser levelers are replacing conventional methods in the construction industry. When the bubble is plumb the laser leveler projects a straight level beam of light helping in the alignment of many projects. Includes laser leveler with hard plastic case, tripod (not pictured), extra "AAA" batteries, (3) leveling assemblies and instructions.

PARTICLE COUNTER

Lasers are used in many metrology applications to measure particulate in the air and in liquids. Learn the principle behind metrology using this activity. Includes particle counter, multimeter, (3) sample vials and instructions. This activity requires a laser light source (not included), but will work with a lab laser or laser pointer as a light source.

SURVEYING AND LEVELING

Lasers have been used for several years now to assist in aligning drainage pipes, skyscrapers, drop ceilings, house foundations and much more. This method of using lasers is considerably faster and more accurate than when using older, more conventional methods. This activity will help students learn and demonstrate these concepts. Includes rotating beam scanner with adapter, rigid acrylic tabletop (15x15x3/16), (5) leveling assemblies, ruler and instructions. This activity requires a laser light source (not included), but will work with a lab laser or laser pointer as a light source.

PHOTOMETER/RECEIVER

That's right, we have combined our photometer and receiver unit. Now you can determine the output of your laser along with other light sources and receive voice signals with this one unit. Includes Photometer/Receiver unit with adapter, attached photocell detector, a stand and instructions. Requires an audio modulated laser (not included) to demonstrate receiver portion of unit (see Lab Lasers). This unit works with most other brands of audio modulated lasers on the market.

If you have a modulated laser and would like to transmit audio signals, this package is for you. If you have a laser other than an SLC laser, we can match the microphone to your laser. (Please contact us for details.) Includes speaker and power adapter, microphone, photocell detector, (2) stands, 10 foot fiber optic cable with mount, Lasers and Fiber Optic Lab manual with voice transmission lab. VIDEO RECEIVER PACKAGE

Transmit video from a DVD or Blu-ray player to a TV using a video modulated laser (not included - see SLC 2.5mW Video Laser, found on Lab Lasers page) and this receiver package. It may or may not be compatible with other lasers. (We haven't tried it.) Includes video receiver with adapter, (2) patch cords and instructions.

FIBER OPTIC SAMPLE KIT

This package contains 1 to 2 foot lengths of our most popular fiber cables. It’s a great way for students to learn about jacketed, unjacketed and bundled cable that vary in thickness, along with fluorescent and duplex cables.

Kit contains: adapter, 2 feet each 1000 um jacketed, unjacketed, jacketed duplex and unjacketed fluorescent cable, 2 feet each 1500 um jacketed and unjacketed cable, 2000 um jacketed and unjacketed cable, 1 foot each unjacketed 265 um diameter jacketed fiber bundle with 16, 32, 48 and 64 strands.
